NGHS Jazz

The NGHS JAZZ ENSEMBLE is a 20 to 25 member auditioned instrumental performing group under the direction of Mr. Marion English that performs music in the Jazz or "Big Band" style of concert oriented jazz literature. It meets after school in the North Gwinnett band room most Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Spring with the purpose of exposing students to the importance of jazz as an American art form coupled with an added emphasis on improvisation. The NGJE is made up of North Gwinnett's most advanced performers, many of whom have participated in the Georgia All-State Band, in addition to many other extra-curricular performing groups. Playing a varied repertoire of traditional swing, latin, jazz rock, and funk, the North Gwinnett Jazz Ensemble maintains an active concert schedule throughout the spring having performed in various festivals and concerts in and around Suwanee and the state of Georgia.
